Onstage during a performance at the Hollywood Bowl on Tuesday night, comedian Dave Chappelle was assaulted.
A man in the audience assaulted Chappelle, who was held by the venue's security.

The man was carrying a replica gun that could expel a knife blade, according to the Los Angeles Police
Chappelle's publicist Carla Sims said that the comic "refuses to allow last night's tragedy to overshadow the brilliance of this historic occasion."
"Dave Chappelle performed four nights of comedy and music at the Hollywood Bowl, breaking sales records for a comedian," Sims added.
A peek at the incident was also provided by video footage that was circulating on social media.
Chris Rock, who was also present, may be heard stating, "Was that Will Smith?" after the attack in this video.
Since making jokes about transgender individuals in his Netflix show The Closer in 2021, Chappelle has sparked outrage.
Chappelle was then joined on stage by actor Jamie Foxx and comedian Chris Rock, according to some crowd members.
Chappelle appeared unscathed and joked that his assailant "Was a trans dude," according to reports.
He remarked earlier in the set that he felt targeted by transgender persons who called his previous work transphobic.
